My Kefir Grains have been ordered and are on their way!
Update... My Milk Kefir Grains came two days ago!
I wasn't to impressed with the way they arrived in a plastic bag
that was leaking into another plastic bag inside a legal sized envelope in the heat!
But, I am taking good care of them and feeding them regularly
and will wait a week for my final opinion.
KEFIR UPDATE AUGUST 2011
It has been about a month now and the grains are doing much better.
They are finally producing a better smelling product.
The taste is strong and texture sour curdled from the live grains
so I used the product to make Kefir Cheese Balls...yum!
Stores in a jar in the pantry in Olive Oil infused with garlic and Basil.
Will last years if completely covered in Olive Oil.
But I think it will be eaten long before than!

Hurray! I've been able to make Water Kefir on a regular basis.
However, I have never been able to make it with any significant amount of carbonation. So I cheated :)
After my Water Kefir is finished, I make a bottle of my "special Water Kefir Soda"
by mixing one third Water Kefir, One third White red OR Purple Grape Juice,
and One third Club Soda!
Voila!
A delicious beverage available at my finger tips instead of regular or diet soda!
Due to my allergies to chemicals and preservatives, it is a real blessing to be able have a
tasty, low calorie, all natural pro biotic drink!
To top it all off, thanks to the benefits of the Water Kefir, I have lost weight!!!
Truly a blessing!
