It' winter time and cold outside. Great time to put on another pot of soup bones for a nourishing broth. I use the crock pot and some organic bones if I can get them.
Sip slowly and enjoy the healing goodness, this is especially good after shoveling snow in the winter while dreaming of spring when I can begin growing lettuce in the garden and sprouts on the window sill!
This is also beneficial for those with leaky gut, or conditions like thyroid disease that makes it difficult to absorb nutrients.
- After placing the bones in the crock pot, add 1/2 cup of a good quality apple cider vinegar (this helps to leach the minerals from the bones)
- Add salt if desired (this also helps leach the minerals from the bones.
- Add some celery, onion, carrots to season
- Add enough good quality water to almost fill the crock pot.
- Turn crock pot to low and cook for a few days until the bones get brittle.
- Cool and strain
- Use the broth immediately or store in portions in the freezer until needed.
